This tour takes you to Volcanoes national park for the best Rwanda Gorilla trekking and golden monkeys experience in the Virunga Mountains. You will drive to the park headquarters for briefing before heading to the park. The trekking starts immediately after this led by a guide in a group of 8 other tourists. This is undoubtedly one of the rare experiences you will enjoy while in Rwanda. You will also be able to find the Golden monkeys, and this park has about 80 members that live in two habituated groups. This trip also takes you through the Genocide memorial event at Gisozi Memorial centre where the history of the genocide is explained.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Meet and greet at the Kigali International Airport by your driver-guide. Depending on your arrival time, your driver-guide will take you to visit Kigali city which includes the Genocide Memorial centre at Gisozi. Later you will be transferred to Kinigi at the foothills of the Volcanoes.

Accommodation at Gorilla Nest Lodge (Luxury), Le’ Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Comfort) or Kinigi Guest House (Standard)

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes national park

After breakfast, you will depart to the headquarters of the Park where your driver-guide will accomplish the necessary formalities for you. You will meet your ranger guide(s) for a briefing about the greatest animal experience ever! You will be put in groups of 8 people maximum and each group is assigned one gorilla family to trek. After assigning your gorilla group your tour guide will drive you to the slopes of one of the Virunga volcanoes for your trekking. The time of your hike to the mountain gorillas is unpredictable depending on how far the gorillas have moved, it may take as less as 30 minutes or up to 5, 6 hours. It’s advised you carry some safety gear like boots & a rain coat plus some drinking water. Your driver-guide will wait for you till you are done with trekking then take you for lunch at Ruhengeri, later transfer back to your lodge.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking & transfer to Kigali Airport

Early morning after breakfast, we go for a Golden monkey trekking in volcanoes national park which is a rare & delightful experience. There are two habituated golden monkeys’ troops that are available for visiting both of which make about 80 members. In a group of not more than eight people, you will trek for the monkeys & spend an hour with them once you find them. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
